Were you always planning to be an accountant and why?

I have always planning to be an Accountant, and that is what I know best. I have always been an Accountant since 1986 with 5 years practical working experience with the then called Receiver of Revenue. The remainder working experience has been full functional Accounting within an Corporate Environment, with exposure on a Financial Director Level.

 

When meeting with clients do they mostly come to your own premises or do you mostly go their theirs?

I prefer going to their offices, but it can be a bit of both.

 

What is your preferred mode of communication with your clients?

Email, phone or face to face pending individual merit.

 

Have you ever done an online video call with a client?

No.

 

What do you love most about accounting?

There is always a new challenge.

 

Would you recommend accounting as a career for school-leavers, and why?

Individuals should be allowed to make their own choices, however I would recommend Accounting as a career should they be interested.

 

What qualities should South African business people be looking for in their accountant?

Honesty, credibility, integrity and punctuality.

 

What is the biggest challenge facing accountants today?

Align with all related policy changes.

 

What aspects of accounting do you focus on most?

Bookkeeping up to Management Accounts; VAT Returns; Payroll on merit; Tax.

 

What is your opinion on Bitcoin?

I am not participating.

 

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Cooking.
