My clients come to my office, I prefer online meetings because of the current pandemic

What do you love most about accounting?
In everything we do we have to account. financial accounting just looks at what has taken place within the entity in the past period. and management accounting paves the way forward for the business by looking at new strategies to improve the business and attain growth as well as reducing the business risk.
Would you recommend accounting as a career for school-leavers, and why?
Yes, I would. Because accounting is a scarce skill, and all entities need the professional service of accountants for business risk management and compliance.
What qualities should South African business people be looking for in their accountant?
attention to detail and analytical skills
What is the biggest challenge facing accountants today?
Accountants are used as damage controllers, instead of Directors of the business strategies. As a result, the professionalism is compromised.
What aspects of accounting do you focus on most?
Bookkeeping and Tax Compliance

How far away from your premises is your furthest client?
From your accounting experience, if you could cite one of the biggest reasons SME's in SA fail, what would it be?
SMME's lack planning. Most thriving small entities have pick up without the mind map of where they are going and how they will get there. Hence the turbulences along the way, and lack of sustainability.

Do you think the coming wave of automation in the next few years will steal some accounting jobs and why/why not?
Yes. Because accounting is an office-based profession and it involves some repetitions. repetitive duties are easy to programme for robots to perform.
What is your opinion on Bitcoin?
For me, it is more like gambling, and gambling is more of chance-taking, then it depends how good you are with such. Although if you have enough background on understanding how markets work, it can be a good game to play and you stand more chance to win the game.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Listening to news, jogging and exercising

Good, it is a good partnership for any professional accountant to be involved in, especially in these times we are living in, where our movement is so limited and our lives are so much at risk. We cannot easily reach where we used to reach at the time we want to.
