Yes from a young age, both my grandfathers were Chartered Accountants as well as my Father.

Yes
What do you love most about accounting?
Structuring, saving tax and providing solutions.
Would you recommend accounting as a career for school-leavers, and why?
Yes, it opens up various opportunities and is a scarce field.
What qualities should South African business people be looking for in their accountant?
Good Ethics, Values and professionalism.
What is the biggest challenge facing accountants today?
Lack of the above mentioned.
What aspects of accounting do you focus on most?
Medium size enterprise but have a very broad client base.
Describe your average client:
Medium size businesses in diverse fields from Hospitals, Hotels, Car manufacturers and others.
How far away from your premises is your furthest client?
Around the world.
From your accounting experience, if you could cite one of the biggest reasons SME's in SA fail, what would it be?
Not so much what is done but how it is done.
What accounting software do you like best?
Caseware, SAGE Pastel, Quickbooks.
What other software, online services or apps do you use?
VIP payroll, Pastel Payroll ,Wave, Xero, Microsoft office, Banking apps.
Do you think the coming wave of automation in the next few years will steal some accounting jobs and why/why not?
Not really, new innovation probably creates more jobs.
What is your opinion on Bitcoin?
Very interesting but high risk at this point.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Various watersports and golf.
What is the most interesting thing on your bucket list?
To sail in Croatia. Various watersports and golf.
