Would you recommend accounting as a career for school-leavers, and why?
Yes, because it's an ongoing learning and accountants are needed by all businesses. Also can practise independently.
What qualities should South African business people be looking for in their accountant?
Accountants who are flexible to clients requirements, approachable, affordable and quick to deliver.
What is the biggest challenge facing accountants today?
Pricing is the biggest challenge and declining demand. The tax law is not robust enough to create work for accountants. Business owners are at liberty to overlook accountants, except when they want to acquire property or borrow money.
What aspects of accounting do you focus on most?
Cost and management accounting.

Misunderstanding of the distinction between the Business Entity and owner (Separate legal entity status).

Sage One, Zoho Books

Syft Analytics, Zoho One, Receipt Bank, Smart Practice.
Do you think the coming wave of automation in the next few years will steal some accounting jobs and why/why not?
Already it has but only accountants are the ones with interest, otherwise, should business owners develop the interest to use or learn the softwares, the accounting profession will be a dead profession.
What is your opinion on Bitcoin?
Is a non starter in South Africa as it needs a lot of learning and also everyone feels it's a scam or kind of a betting or lottery.
