Yes, if you enjoy numbers and problem-solving, accounting offers stability, growth, and the chance to help others manage finances.

Businesses should look for accuracy, integrity, and financial expertise, along with strong communication, problem-solving, and adaptability. A great accountant is detail-oriented, reliable, and able to provide valuable financial insights.

What aspects of accounting do you focus on most?
I focus most on financial management, budgeting, and reporting. I enjoy analyzing finances, optimizing cash flow, and helping individuals and businesses make informed financial decisions.

My average client is a regular working professional—someone earning a steady income, managing expenses, and looking for better financial control. They want to budget effectively, reduce financial stress, and make informed decisions about saving, investing, and managing debt.

From your accounting experience, if you could cite one of the biggest reasons SMEs in SA fail, what would it be?
One reason SMEs fail is the lack of detailed management accounts. When businesses don’t have enough insight into their financial health, they make decisions without the full picture, which can lead to critical missteps.

Automation won’t steal accounting jobs; it will just change them. While it handles the repetitive tasks, accountants will focus more on analysis, advising, and making key decisions.

It’s a faster, cheaper, and much easier way to transfer value globally without relying on traditional banks.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I have quite a few hobbies, and love spending time with family, as well as being part of an orchestra and attending orchestral events.
